Emergency crews were on the scene late Monday morning where a pickup truck carrying at 14 people wrecked on the Downtown Connector.
The crash happened just before 11 a.m. on I-75/85 northbound at the Spring Street exit when the truck hit a guardrail.
Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright told the AJC that investigators believe six people were riding in the cab of the truck and eight were in the bed of the truck, which was covered by a camper shell.
According to Atlanta police dispatch logs, at least eight of the passengers were children.
The state Department of Transportation said 11 people were transported to hospitals with injuries. “The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening,” Wright said.
The right lane of the northbound Connector was blocked by the crash and by emergency vehicles.
